By Jennifer McKinney

On March 14, there was an EEI Fire Monitors meeting.  Our guest speaker was Lieutenant Christopher Holmes, a 14-year veteran of the District of Columbia's Fire and Emergency Medical Services Team. Lieutenant Holmes is also a member of the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue Team and USAID International Rescue Team.  He has been deployed for several events including Superstorm Sandy, the earthquake in Haiti, Hurricane Ike, and Hurricane Gustav to name a few.

What makes Lieutenant Holmes so special?  It's his partner, Cazo.  Cazo is one of the few certified FEMA search canines in the country.  During Lieutenant Holmes' presentation, the fire monitors learned about the rigorous training process and Cazo's assistance in helping rescue victims.  Lieutenant Holmes also reiterated the importance of emergency preparedness.

Way to go Cazo!  Keep up the good work.

We all enjoyed meeting Cazo, and he was kind enough to pose for a picture with us.
