The EEI Board noted several membership changes at its recent meeting in January. We have an unusual new electric company member: InfraREIT / Sharyland Utilities. This is a Real Estate Investment Trust that owns the assets that are operated by former EEI member Sharyland Utilities: a 50,000 customer distribution company on the Rio Grande, and several transmission line segments in North Texas. They should be afforded full member privileges.
In addition, we continue to work with Sempra Energy (and subsidiary San Diego Gas & Electric), treating them as members. We also encourage you to continue to make every effort to include in your committees, meetings, and work rooms recent new members SCANA (South Carolina Electric & Gas) and Florida Public Utilities, and strategic partner Tennessee Valley Authority.
The Board noted several CEO changes in recent months. Lynn Good replaced Jim Rogers as the CEO and President at Duke Energy last fall; Kevin Burke turned over the reins as CEO and President at Con Edison to John McAvoy; Scott Prochazka has replaced David McClanahan as CEO and President at CenterPoint Energy; Darrel Anderson is the new CEO and President at Idaho Power (and he will take on those same two titles at IDACORP, replacing LaMont Keen in April). Also, Tom Dunn will replace Chris Dutton as the CEO and President at Vermont Electric Power Company in February.
Finally, in December, MidAmerican Energy closed its merger with NV Energy, making EEI Chairman Michael Yackira’s company a new subsidiary of MidAmerican.
