  • USS Midway Aircraft Carrier

Our Monday evening offsite event will be a memorable one!  We will be aboard the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier permanently docked in San Diego Harbor.

On the Flight Deck from 6:30 – 9:30 pm, we will enjoy a reception with food stations and a DJ playing WWII era music.  From the Flight Deck, you can explore the USS Midway with the Ship’s Command Docent Tour.  Ascend navy ladders to experience firsthand what it was like to command a 69,000-ton aircraft carrier with a crew of 4,500.  Guided access will be provided through primary flight control, chart room, bridge, and the at-sea cabin.  Also, Docents will mingle with the guests on the Flight Deck to answer Navy aircraft carrier questions, discuss operational duties, and the describe the wonderful history of the USS Midway.

On the Hanger Deck, flight simulators will be open from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.  Air Combat 360 is a state-of-the-art virtual-reality full motion simulator for a WWII dog-fighting adventure.  Riders control the action in one of the two pods for a two-minute pulse-pounding aerial combat ride.  Flight Avionics Naval Combat Mission is a group motion simulator featuring a Navy Aviation Training Exercise called “Screaming Eagles” (six minutes in length).  Be prepared to launch off the aircraft carrier, hit every target, complete your air to air mission, and land safely.  In addition from the Hangar Deck, you can explore the USS Midway with the Life at Sea Docent Tour.  Learn what it was like to prepare 13,500 meals daily, how sailors ate in rough seas, shared space with bombs and missiles, and found their way to the sick-bay.

Motor coaches will transport us to the USS Midway leaving the hotel about 6:00 pm and returning to the hotel about 10:00 pm.

The Monday evening offsite event is included in the registration fee for conference attendees and guests.
