  • The 2017 EEI/AGA Fall Accounting Conference will be held at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel on November 12-15, 2017.  The room block rate for our conference is $209/night for a single or double standard room.  You can reserve a room for the conference under our room block using this link to the hotel website.  The cut-off date for reserving rooms under the room block is Friday, October 20, 2017.

  • Tour of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

    This activity includes a guided tour of the gardens at 10 am and a guided tour of the main house at 11 am both lasting about 45 minutes each.  Below is a description of the museum and gardens from the Vizcaya website:

    Vizcaya was created as James Deering’s subtropical winter home in the 1910s and today it is a National Historic Landmark and accredited museum. We invite you to learn about Vizcaya’s fascinating history and the individuals responsible for the unusual estate’s origins, evolution and ongoing management.  We’ve coined the phrase “Very Vizcaya” to describe an experience or situation that captures the complexity and contradiction of this landmark estate. Vizcaya is beautiful and serene. But it is also a place of intellectual stimulation, compelling us to consider the relationships between native and foreign, old and new, and natural and designed. The curiosity that brought you here today suggests you’re probably already forming your own opinion of why Vizcaya is special and worthy of our efforts to preserve it.  Vizcaya has been described as “the finest private house ever built in America,” “a jewel among Miami’s skyscrapers and subdivisions,” and “some Noah’s Ark of decorative arts,” its exteriors offering the “manic tranquility of the great European folly gardens.” Most of us who know Vizcaya well embrace this place for both its serious significance and its eccentric charm.

    The fee to attend this optional tour is $50 per person which includes transportation from the hotel to Vizcaya and return to the hotel after the tour.

    The tour is limited to 25 people so registration is first come first serve.  I will be monitoring registration and need to cut-off registration once the tour is full.  Unfortunately, the EEI website will not stop registration once the tour is full so it is possible that I will need to notify individuals after the fact that the tour is full and refund their registration fee for this event.  So, please register early if you want to ensure a spot on this tour.

    Mini-bus pick-up at the hotel will be around 9 am and return to the hotel should be by 12:30 pm.

  • Mango's Tropical Café South Beach

    Our event at Mango's will be 6 - 9 pm.  We will have a reception and dinner in the Jungle Room (private room).  The open bar will include Mango's frozen specialty drinks, mojitos, and martinis.  The dinner will be Mango's Latin Buffet. 

    Starting at 8 pm, we will have access to one of the longest running "Cabaret" shows in the country complete with live bands, DJ sets, as well as acts ranging from Salsa, Bachata, and even a tribute to the "King of Pop" the late Michael Jackson.  Our live bands and choreographed dance performances provide a memorable fun-filled experience.

    Buses will pick us up at the hotel around 5:30 pm for a short ride to South Beach.  Buses will return to the hotel starting at 9 pm.

  • The Fall Accounting Conference is hosted by the EEI Corporate Accounting Committee, the EEI Property Accounting & Valuation Committee, and the AGA Accounting Services Committee.

    This meeting is open to committee members and any employee of an EEI or AGA member and associate member company. Typical members attending this meeting include middle or upper accounting management from the general accounting area, plant accounting managers and depreciation specialists. This three-day joint EEI/AGA meeting provides a forum for members to discuss current issues in the natural gas and electric utility industries and an opportunity for professional development. This meeting features joint committee presentations followed by breakout sessions for Corporate Accounting and Property Accounting. Industry professionals and leaders in the field of utility accounting issues present individual elements. Attendees are encouraged to attend presentations of interest in different breakout sessions.

    Only employees of AGA and EEI member and associate member companies may attend.
  • At the Conference, there will be three Roundtable Discussions or both the Corporate Accounting and Property Accounting breakout sessions.  The Roundtable Discussions are open forums that allow Conference attendees to obtain valuable responses and input from your peers.  Please take advantage of this extremely beneficial opportunity as the Roundtable Discussions are always one of the highest rated sessions of the Conference.

     

    Additional information regarding the Roundtable Discussions, including how/when to submit topics for discussion, will be provided at a later date.

  • REGISTRATION FEES:
    EEI/AGA Full & Associate Member Registration Fee - $1,285

    EEI/AGA Registration Fee Group Rate - $1,185
    ($100 per person discount applies to three or more attendees from the same company - a refund will be issued after the meeting)     

    Guest Registration Fee, includes all meals (breakfast + lunch), receptions on Sunday and Tuesday, and the Monday Evening Event at Mango’s Tropical Café South Beach - $75

    Registration fees do not include the Sunday morning optional activity – Tour of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.

    Note: Members eligible for the group discount rate that register online will not receive the discount at registration. A single refund check reflecting the discounts will be issued to your company following the meeting.     Meeting Cancellation Policy
    Registration fees will be refunded minus a $100 administration fee if notification of cancellation is received on or before Tuesday, November 3, 2017.
