Transmission Pricing

Pricing incentives are an effective way to promote independent operation and expansion of the transmission system.

To encourage RTO and ITC formation and reward new grid investment, FERC has proposed incentives for transmission owners who hand over operational control of their facilities or invest in new transmission as part of an RTO planning process.  These incentives would be in the form of a ‘basis point’ adder to the return on equity (ROE) allowed in transmission rates.

EEI supports FERC’s proposal and encourages the agency to expand it to all independently operated transmission and new transmission investments.
