The Clean Air Mercury Rule

A Common-Sense Approach to Reducing Power Plant Mercury Emissions

On March 15, 2005, EPA issued its final Clean Air Mercury Rule (CAMR) for coal-based power plants—the first-ever federal rule to permanently cap and reduce mercury emissions from power plants. CAMR offers a common-sense approach to reducing power plant mercury emissions.

This Communications Kit is designed to provide information about CAMR and why states should adopt this federal program to achieve significant reductions of mercury in a way that provides flexibility while minimizing costs to consumers.
