Conversion Convention Provisions for Use with the EEI Master Contract

Below are optional provisions for use with the EEI Master Contract. Other optional provisions are available.

MISO Day 2 Conversion Convention

The MISO Day 2 Conversion Convention provides a template for converting Seller's Choice products in anticipation of implementation of MISO's Day 2 markets.  The Convention includes:

  • Principle Considerations Related to a Conversion Convention for an "Into [Receiving Transmission Product] Seller's Daily Choice" Product upon MISO operation of a Day 2 Energy Market
  • Elements of a Conversion Convention for an "Into [Receiving Transmission Provider] Seller's Daily Choice" Product upon MISO operation of a Day 2 Energy Market
  • Amendment Agreement Adopting the Conversion Convention for an Into ____ ("___") Product

The Conversion Convention For An Into Product

The below listed Companies have participated in technical consultations that have led to development of the following documents: 

  • "Principle Considerations related to a Conversion Convention for an into Control Area Product"
  • "Elements of a Conversion Convention For An Into Control Area Product"
  • "Comparison of Former Into control area Product and PJM Transition Product."

    These documents describe a Conversion Convention that may be used by market participants to implement  Into "control area" Transactions  using  a proposed PJM Transition Product as of the date that the transfer of operational control of the control area to PJM.  The technical consultations whose results are recorded in the foregoing documents were designed to elicit information from stakeholders affected by the contemplated expansion of the PJM system in connection with the formulation of the proposed convention.

By contacting Aryeh Fishman at afishman@eei.org and authorizing said representative to include the Company's name in the below list, the below listed Companies confirm that the principles and concepts set forth herein offer a commercially reasonable approach to implementing the Into "control area" Product once operational control of the control area has transferred to PJM.  However, this confirmation in no way obligates any of the undersigned companies to use this convention in their individual negotiations and agreements with any counter-parties.  Each company will continue to make its own independent decisions on the terms and conditions to be negotiated with any counter-party.  This convention will be posted for use only as a reference that market participants may consult as they undertake individual negotiations to reformulate their commercial relationships to reflect expansion of the PJM system.  Nothing herein should be construed as any agreement or understanding by any of the undersigned to the contrary:

"Into Cinergy" Conversion Convention

The listed Companies have read the "Conversion Convention For An Into Cinergy Product" and understand the "Guiding Principles" and "MISO-East Conversion Of Into Cinergy Product" along with the table setting forth the "Comparison of Former Into Cinergy Product and MISO Day One Into Cinergy Product." By contacting Aryeh Fishman, Director, Regulatory Legal Affairs, Edison Electric Institute at afishman@eei.org  and authorizing a representative of Edison Electric Institute to include the Company's name in the list, these Companies agree with the principles and concepts set forth herein as a commercially reasonable approach to reflect the formation of MISO-East on the obligations, rights and transmission risk allocation of the existing Into Cinergy Product. These documents describe a Conversion Convention that may be used by market participants to implement Into ComEd Transactions  using  a proposed PJM Transition Product as of the date that ComEd transfers operational control of the ComEd control area to PJM.  The technical consultations whose results are recorded in the foregoing documents were designed to elicit information from stakeholders affected by the contemplated expansion of the PJM system in connection with the formulation of the proposed convention.
