Internal Policy for Utilization of Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) recognizes the importance of minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) to the nation's economy. EEI also recognizes that there are many advantages to maintaining competition in the marketplace, particularly in the establishment of alternative procurement sources. Accordingly, it is EEI's policy to encourage the development of mutually beneficial business relationships with qualified MWBEs and to ensure that MWBEs shall have the opportunity to compete for EEI's business.

EEI is committed to increasing the opportunities for MWBEs. Officers of EEI involved shall share in the responsibility for the corporate practice stated in this policy.

It shall be the practice off EEI to:

  1. Ensure that MWBEs are aware of requirements to participate in EEI business opportunities;
  2. Identify opportunities for MWBE involvement, and encourage MWBEs to qualify for and bid on, EEI requirements for equipment, materials and services; and
  3. Provide increased opportunities for MWBEs to participate in EEI procurement of equipment, materials and service.
