The California Academy of Sciences
Celebrate the Big Blue Ball
This year’s Grand Event at the California Academy of Sciences promises a night of fabulous entertainment as well as gourmet catered food & beverage stations.
The California Academy of Sciences, the “greenest museum in the world”, takes you on a journey through the Earth’s natural ecosystems. In addition to the fascinating exhibits within the Academy, the building structure itself is a wonder all its own. Having won the Platinum rating for the LEED certificate, it is the largest public building in the world to receive this distinction. Sustainability is a focal point for the museum, which contains energy efficient sub-floor heating units inside and a solar paneled living roof atop the building. The building’s insulation is even partially constructed from recycled blue jeans. As the Academy’s largest corporate sponsor, PG&E shared its considerable expertise with CAS on the development and implementation of its environmentally-oriented exhibits.
The dress code is business casual attire: golf or open-collar shirt for the men, and casual slacks, dresses or pantsuits for women. Comfortable shoes encouraged for all.
Start out with a Green Street Welcome sponsored by URS. They’ll provide the buses to transport you to the Academy, where a truly green and natural experience awaits you.
Dance the night away to “sustainable” hits from past decades, and refuel with delectable Bay Area cuisine at the Carbon Footprint Boogie sponsored by ITRON.
Raise the stakes and call as you participate in popular games of chance at the Rechargeable Token Casino sponsored by SHAW POWER.
Re-energize as you savor premium California wines and cheeses and unwind to the mellow beats of smooth jazz, all at the Renew Your Energy Lounge sponsored by ORACLE.
Delicious dishes abound in the South African Sanctuary sponsored by VERTEX BUSINESS SERVICES. Visit with the distinguished guests of the evening -- Pierre and the rest of the Black-footed African Penguins.
Don’t miss the Zero Emissions Photo Op sponsored by ELSTER, and take home a memento from the evening’s event!
Be sure to visit The Swamp to catch a glimpse of Claude, the resident albino American alligator. Here you’ll find savory dessert and coffee offerings.
This truly unique venue will be the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening!
