Highlights from EEI's Annual Convention/Expo

EEI's 2007 Convention/Expo—themed Electricity 2007: Dynamic New Directions—took place June 17-19, in Denver, Colorado. The meeting, held annually, provides an opportunity for hundreds of industry executives from companies large and small in power generation, transmission, distribution, and marketing to gather and explore the key issues that are transforming the electric industry.

At this year's Convention, Jeff Sterba, president and CEO of Albuquerque-based PNM Resources, was elected chairman of EEI. David M. Ratcliffe, chairman, president and CEO of Atlanta-based Southern Company, was elected first vice-chairman; and Anthony F. Earley Jr., chairman and CEO of Detroit's DTE Energy, was elected second vice-chairman.

Also, during Convention, in recognition of innovative leadership and operational excellence in the electricity industry, EEI named Great Plains Energy and AES Latin America as winners of the Edison Award, the industry's highest honor.
