EEI Urges House To Vote 'No' On Hinchey-Wolf

June 12, 2007

The House will vote this week on an amendment offered by Representatives Maurice Hinchey, Frank Wolf, and John Murtha to derail an important part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This law provides the federal government with limited authority to site badly needed electric power lines if states are unable or unwilling to do so. A "no" vote on this amendment is crucial for our nation’s energy vitality.

  • The House should oppose efforts to restrict funding for designating national interest electric transmission corridors under the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
  • Read a letter sent by EEI, the American Public Power Association, American Wind Energy Association, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and the Nuclear Energy Institute in opposition to the Hinchey-Wolf-Murtha amendment.
  • Find out why Congress should protect funding for transmission siting.
  • Learn more about the transmission siting provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
