EEI's Web Site Redesign

May 30, 2007

Welcome to the Edison Electric Institute's new home page. We are in the process of a complete redesign of our Web site, and—as an initial step—have made several cosmetic and functional changes:

Home Page

  • Although we have streamlined the look and feel of our home page, its key elements—the site's navigation along the top of the page, links to industry events and meetings, and a featured EEI product—have not changed.
  • To better showcase issues of importance to our industry, we've added a Hot Topic section to the right column of the home page. We currently are highlighting www.getenergyactive.org—a new educational Web site that focuses on the electric power industry's key issues.
  • The Resources For section at the bottom of the page directs each of EEI's major audience types to its own landing page. These one-stop pages link to content of interest from different areas of the site. Roll over an audience to read a description of what you’ll find in that section.
  • Each news story in the What’s New box (center, left) has its own Web page with links to related content. In addition, we have added an Energy News section to the site, which archives these stories.
  • Because of its popularity, Electric Perspectives, EEI's award-winning magazine of the electric power industry, is now an anchored feature in the bottom right column, with a link to its latest issue.

Underlying Pages

  • We have moved our site navigation—Learn More—to the left of each underlying page. If the page you are visiting has a Featured Product, that information is on the left as well.
  • Throughout the site, a new icon— —denotes members-only content. If you are an EEI member but are not logged in, you will be asked to do so in order to access this content.
  • In the Industry Issues section, content for EEI electric company members-only is accessible through the More for Members box on the left of each page, when members-only content is available.

In the coming months, we will be making additional changes to www.eei.org. We believe that these changes will make for a much better and more organized experience for you. But we'd like to hear what you think. Please feel free to e-mail your comments to feedback@eei.org.
