EEI Mourns the Loss of Longtime Employee Tony Anthony

Edwin R. "Tony" Anthony, who cultivated extraordinary relationships with EEI's member companies throughout his 27 years serving shareholder-owned electric utilities, died suddenly Saturday. He was 63.

Anthony served as EEI's Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Member Relations, a role that included directing more than 100 CEO and Board meetings throughout his tenure. EEI President Tom Kuhn said of Anthony: "Tony was such a genuine person. He embraced life and approached it with passion and joy. He has been a major member of the EEI family for almost three decades, and we have been honored with every minute of it."

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Anthony joined EEI in 1983 and served as Director of Public Information before transitioning into a very successful career in member relations. In his most recent position, Anthony was responsible for strategic planning, member and associate services, and meeting and exposition services. Prior to joining EEI, Anthony held various roles in media relations for the National Coal Association (now known as the National Mining Association), Pepco and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Julie, their four children and six grandchildren.
