Arizona Public Service, Aquila, Inc. Earn Power Industry's 2007 Supplier Diversity Awards

() - Edison Electric Institute (www.eei.org) today announced that Arizona Public Service (APS), the largest subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corporation (NYSE: PNW), and Aquila, Inc. (NYSE:ILA), have earned the electric power industry's 2007 Supplier Diversity Awards. APS won the Excellence award for its comprehensive efforts in advancing the development of minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBE) in the electric power marketplace. Kansas City, MO-based Aquila was awarded the industry's Innovative Approaches award for increasing its internal commitment to working with MWBE.

In addition to presenting the industry's 2007 Supplier Diversity Awards, EEI also announced that two MWBEs-Metro Environmental Controls of Oak Park, Michigan, and Wiseman Consultants of Houston, Texas-have earned the industry's 2007 Executive Management Education Award. Each company has developed products and services that have been judged outstanding by the electric utility industry. The MWBEs have also made a positive impact on their communities through economic development. Each of the winning companies will now be able to send one employee to attend an executive management course at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth University.
For the past 24 years, EEI has recognized those electric companies who have demonstrated leadership in advancing purchasing opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses. Contracts with power companies during this time have gone from being written for such traditional services as office supplies and temporary personnel, to critical industry areas such as underground and overhead line construction, meter reading, nuclear engineering services, construction management, and pension fund management.
