September is National Preparedness Month during which the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) encourages Americans to focus on simple, specific activities that follow the universal building blocks of emergency preparedness: be informed; make a plan, build a kit, and get involved.
National Preparedness Month culminates with a National PrepareAthon! Day on September 30, 2014. A national day of action, the PrepareAthon! provides individuals, organizations, and communities an opportunity to prepare for specific hazards through drills, group discussions, and exercises.
