EEI Applauds Passage of Cybersecurity Information Sharing Legislation
WASHINGTON (December 18, 2015) – Edison Electric Institute (EEI) President Tom Kuhn issued the following statement today commending Congress for including the cybersecurity information sharing provisions as part of the omnibus bill.

“EEI thanks members of the House and Senate for their inclusion and bipartisan support of the cybersecurity information sharing provisions as part of the omnibus bill.

“While the electric power sector already engages in significant information sharing, and has in place mandatory and enforceable reliability and cybersecurity standards, taking steps to improve the sharing of actionable security information between the government and industry is vital to protecting the electric grid from all possible threats. Enactment of this cybersecurity information sharing and liability protection legislation will enhance communication among the federal government, electric utilities, and other critical infrastructure industries.

“We look forward to the President signing the bill into law and to working with the administration and Congress as the provisions in the legislation are implemented.”
