AT&T – SENIOR ENERGY MANAGER, CHICAGO, IL

Project The Sr. Energy Manager develops, implements and coordinates policies on matters involving fuel and electric energy conservation and procurement. This position is the SME on energy related issues at a State and Federal level. Responsible for price forecast and analysis of electricity and natural gas supply across the enterprise. Leads development, maintenance and administration of electricity consumption and cost forecasting model. May source, negotiate and administer supply contracts, with experience in renewable energy contracts preferred. Assess risk of various energy pricing proposals from suppliers. Advises management on the practical and necessary steps to conserve energy.

  • About the Department:   Worldwide Development is a key corporate department providing "cradle to grave" guidance to the system on all restaurant development matters. Our expertise spans all phases of Worldwide Architecture, Design and Development and Real Estate. We assist in creating design features, global standards, develop tools and technology based solutions in support of country development plans. We insure information exchange and knowledge transfer, measure performance and establish levels of efficiency, conduct long term R&D innovation and support corporate and /or new business initiatives. Our customers consist of 118 countries throughout the world.   The Worldwide Energy Director will provide strategic leadership as the "Center of Expertise" for restaurant design & cost-effective, environmentally acceptable energy management solutions that support Area of the World Development Group's plan and Restaurant Solution Group's initiatives. Directs a team (internal/external) that provides consulting and technical resources to develop and maintain standards. Key customers include Area of the World Development Groups, Country Energy/Sustainability Managers and Restaurant Solutions Group staff. Scope of focus will include developing standards and best practices to reduce energy usage and costs, establishing a worldwide energy consortium, more efficient energy usage techniques, corrective and preventative maintenance procedures, and creative electricity and natural gas procurement options. The Worldwide Energy Director reports to the Sr. Director Development and Strategic Technology.  

    Position Responsibilities:
    •  Develops strategic plan and prioritization of energy initiatives for execution by corporate and area of the world functional staffs
    •  Manages and chairs global energy council
    •  Manages corporate energy web page as communication portal to tools and developments to improve system energy performance
    •  Manages development, installation, data analysis and business proposal of energy related projects
    •  Overall management of utilities for McDonald's global infrastructure by providing efficient and socially acceptable energy resources impacting the restaurant P&L and company brand
    •  Provides business, technical guidance and support for worldwide utility services including but not limited to electricity, gas, and water
    •  Directs and manages staff or consultants to resolve utility problems/issues/questions received from: Corporate/Country Development, Energy and Operations staff
    •  Directs the development, review, and maintenance of design standards and equipment evaluation related to energy/utility usage and management
    •  Leads research and reports on the future costs, trends, and billing of utility markets in both the short and long term
    •  Creates and coordinates with internal and external resources to develop energy management tools, surveys and best practices for use at the restaurant level system wide. Works closely with other corporate departments in developing unified message regarding Energy, Sustainability and overall Social Responsibility
    •  Develops necessary statistical/financial analyses, universal tools and utility related business cases through evaluation of country utility tariff structures, restaurant designs and product evaluations
    •  Directs or assists in organizing suppliers, contractors, engineering consultants and operations in the development of energy and utility management programs, equipment and system evaluations
    •  Key customers include Corporate Engineering and Area of the World (AOW) Construction, Development, Energy Managers and Operations teams
    Requirements Position Requirements:
    •  BS degree required (business or engineering focus preferred).
    •  At least 6 years of utility experience with business planning, supplier development, and project development (International business exposure preferred)
    •  Finesse in handling the unexpected circumstances that occur when facilitating energy management and maintaining impeccable customer focus is essential
    •  Working knowledge of regulated and non-regulated utility industries
    •  Ability to positively influence and confident when dealing with suppliers and customers
    •  Sensitive to the overall restaurant operation objectives
    •  Demonstrated skills in leadership, people management and development.
    •  Must have the ability to communicate effectively at a senior level with customers (internal/external) and to build and sustain effective working relationships with these counterparts.
    •  Experience developing and supporting business cases
    •  Proficient working knowledge of MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
    •  Ability to travel internationally (estimated 3-6 trips a year)

SEARS- ENERGY MANAGER SEARS RETAIL

 – Corporate – Hoffman Estates, IL
Provide technical and non-technical support with respect to energy as it relates to facilities engineering for Sears Retail operations. Technical support is defined as mechanical (HVAC) and electrical (Lighting & Power) energy engineering to support energy initiatives which will reduce energy consumption, energy expense, and life cycle cost of capital assets.  This position supports Sears Retail stores including Sears Full Line Stores, The Great Indoors, Sears Grand, Hardware Stores, and Outlet Stores. The high level scope includes working with appropriate personnel to develop and plan the Sears Retail energy strategy. Develop the energy implementation process. Identify economically viable energy projects. Promote energy awareness. Monitor and test energy equipment.

Responsibilities include: 
• Develop and provide energy / maintenance guidelines for Facilities Services
• Develop and provide energy / operations guidelines for Store Operations
• Development of site comparative energy reporting for Sears Retail businesses
• Develop analytical tools that can be used to quantify Life Cycle expense and energy savings for specific energy   savings projects.
• Reduce energy consumption

Experience/Education Requirements
• Energy Engineering experience – Utility use analysis, energy project development (site evaluationsavings calculations, cost estimating) and implementation.
• Multi site retail energy management experience – Retail Stores Mall Based and Off Mall
• Mechanical (HVAC) and Electrical (Lighting and Power) Engineering experience
• Utility rate structure analysis and Demand-side Program experience
• Applied knowledge of HVAC, and Lighting control systems engineering
• Applied knowledge of building automation and control systems (EMS)
• Applied knowledge of building commissioning and energy auditing
• Engineering Degree or similar
• P.E license, CEM certification and/or LEED accreditation preferred
• Microsoft Office skills, especially strong in Excel    
Preferred Minimum Education: BS level degree 
Years Experience: 2-5 Years experience 
Travel Requirements:  moderate (15-30%)

TARGET STORES - MANAGEMENT ELECTRIC MANAGER

To provide Target Stores, Distribution Centers, Offsite Warehouses, District Offices and HQ locations with reliable, cost effective, compliant energy.  Includes development and monitoring of annual utility budgets. Preparation, execution and negotiation of gas and electric commodity bids in deregulated markets.  Rate and tariff reviews in regulated markets.  Trouble shooting store utility service issues. Studies to support the evaluation of new technologies, back up generation, ongoing changes to store prototypes, the annual reporting of green house gas emissions, and other projects as needed. Energy report development and disbursement to support an employee awareness program.

STAPLES BASED POSITION OPEN

Staples is looking for an Energy Project Specialist to work at their Framingham, MA headquarters.  This position will work directly for the Director of Energy & Environmental Services at Staples*. In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
• Provide general project management support including planning, scheduling, coordination, reporting to drive projects to successful completion.  Primary driver of project implementation, coordination of energy efficient equipment installations and retrofit/remodel projects.
• Provide project level coordination and support between Staples and key external partners.  Coordinate contract obligations for external partners, as required, and reporting (benchmarking, validations, value) from vendor partners.
• Provide project level coordination and support between Staples internal departments.  Maintain relationship with internal business units to leverage responses in a timely manner.  Work with District Managers, Store Managers, Environmental Team and Facilities Coordinator as well as Non-Retail management regarding energy projects
• Involvement in yearly utility budget support including facilitation of Site master with budget vendor to reflect all sites for throughout fiscal year – provide updates to partners

The selected candidate will have the following skill sets:
• Previous experience in facilities, energy management analysis and utility bill processing environment
• Min. 3 years energy experience
• Min. 2 years project manager experience
• Finance experience preferred
• Strong PC skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package
• Ability to manage multiple projects/task
• Strong focus on commitment to team work and customer service
• Organized and self motivated
