EEI-AGA Introduction to Public Utility Accounting Course

  • AGA and EEI will be conducting their annual four-day programs on public utility accounting.  The courses are taught by expert utility instructors and respected leaders in the field.  These four-day programs will be held at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown Hotel and are open to everyone.  

    Introduction to Public Utility Accounting:
    This course concentrates on the fundamentals of public utility accounting and provides an understanding of the utility business.  This course is geared towards recently hired accountants and supervisors in the accounting, auditing, and financial areas.  The objective of this course is to provide an introductory knowledge and understanding of public utility accounting fundamentals, practices and issues in the electric and gas industries.  The course is designed for utility industry professionals in the areas of accounting, finance, auditing and other financial areas.

    1      Public Utility Accounting and Financial Reporting
    2.     Utility Ratemaking Process
    3.     Capital Structure and Liability Management (intro level)
    4.     Depreciation Accounting Principles
    5.     Income Tax – Ratemaking and Accounting Issues
    6.     Derivative Accounting
    7.     Planning and Budgeting Issues (intro level)
    8.     Property (Plant) Accounting
    9.     Other Topics TBD

    This course qualifies CPE - see the CPE notification under meeting documents for additional information regarding CPE.
  • Registration Fees:

    Early Bird Registration Fees - Must Register before July 3, 2019:
    • EEI/AGA Full Member Rate: $1,895
    • EEI/AGA Associate Member Rate: $1,995
    • Non-Member Rate: $2,395
    Regular Registration Fees - Register After June 30, 2019:
    • EEI/AGA Full Member Rate: $1,945
    • EEI/AGA Associate Member Rate: $2,045
    • Non-Member Rate: $2,445
    A Group Rate Discount of $100 per person applies to companies with four or more registrants.  When registering online, you will be charged the registration rates listed above.  However, a refund check reflecting the group rate discount of $100 per person will be issued to your company following the training courses for companies that sent four (4) or more participants.

    For your name and contact information to be included in the training materials distributed at the training course to attendees, you must register to attend the training by July 29, 2019.

    Cancellation Policy
    All training registration changes, cancellations, or substitutions must be received in writing by email to Kim King at kking@eei.org or faxed to EEI at (202) 508-5542.  Cancellations must be received in writing by Friday, August 2, 2019 to qualify for a full refund less a $100 administrative fee.  NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER AUGUST 2, 2019.  However, substitutions are welcome.

    Please use this link to reserve a room at the hotel.  Our special rate is $174 plus tax per night, single or double occupancy ($199 for triple and $224 for quad).  Important: The cut-off date for the special EEI/AGA hotel room rate is Friday, July 26, 2019. Reservations made after July 26, 2019 will be subject to availability and existing hotel rates.  Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is 11:00 am.  Depending on meeting attendance, the hotel room block may fill up before the published cut-off date, so don’t delay reserving a room.

    The hotel will honor the group rate 3 days before and 3 days after the training based on availability.

  • The dress code is business-casual for all functions.  Please note that meeting room temperatures are generally cool and difficult to moderate – please bring appropriate attire for such conditions.
