Ameren Missouri Offers New Renewable Energy Program
July 2018

America’s electric companies are committed to a clean energy future. In June, Ameren Missouri announced an agreement to begin offering new program to help increase renewable energy use in the state.
The Renewable Choice Program recently was approved by the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) and is an innovative way for large commercial and industrial customers as well as municipalities to receive up to 100 percent of their energy from clean, renewable resources.

"The Renewable Choice Program is a great option for business and municipal customers to increase their renewable energy use," said Michael Moehn, president of Ameren Missouri. "We know customers across Missouri are looking for more choices, control and greater flexibility. This program is one of the ways Ameren Missouri is meeting those needs."

Ameren Missouri is authorized to acquire ownership of up to 200 megawatts (MW) of new renewable energy. This program also allows Ameren Missouri to purchase through power supply agreements an additional 200MW of renewable energy generation to serve customers. This new renewable energy generation is in addition to the company's existing renewable energy strategy set forth in its 2017 Integrated Resource Plan—a 20-year plan that supports cleaner energy in Missouri, including major expansions of solar and wind energy. The IRP, which is filed every three years with the Missouri PSC, examines electric customers' projected long-term energy needs.

"Like Ameren Missouri, businesses and municipalities across the state have established renewable energy goals. This program demonstrates our commitment to our customers," said Ajay Arora, vice president of power operations and energy management at Ameren Missouri.

The Renewable Choice Program is the first of its kind in Missouri and is just one way Ameren Missouri is committed to creating a clean energy future for its customers and the environment.
