Con Edison Celebrates Powerful Women
March 2016

The electric power industry creates reliable, good paying jobs for more than 1 million people in communities large and small across the United States and is committed to building a strong, diverse energy workforce for the future.

In June 2015, Con Edison (ConEd) launched a social media campaign to highlight the women who help power New York—their employees. The #IamPOWERful campaign celebrates the strong, inspiring, and courageous women who make up today’s workforce.

Marie Vaceannie is a distribution splicer for ConEd’s electric operations. She is responsible, in her words, “for maintaining, upgrading, repairing, and providing light and power to keep the city that never sleeps in motion 24/7.”

The #IamPOWERful initiative has been well-received by followers and employees, and it is Con Edison’s most successful organic social media campaign to date. You can meet more of Con Edison’s powerful women on the Con Edison Facebook page, under the #IamPOWERful album
