Electric Companies Respond to Historic Winter Weather
Electric Companies Respond to Historic Winter Weather
December 2022
In December, extreme cold weather and a series of winter storms impacted EEI member companies—America’s investor-owned electric companies—and their customers across the country. Many states experienced high winds, extreme cold, and devastating ice and winter storms, causing thousands of customers to lose power. The industry’s mutual assistance networks were activated to respond where needed, and crews worked around the clock to restore power to customers safely and as quickly as possible, often in very dangerous conditions.
Industry leaders coordinated closely with government partners to support the power restoration activities and to ensure that industry and government efforts are aligned. As always, the top priority is the safety of customers and the communities our industry proudly serves.
