EEI Responds to EPA's Proposed New Rules for Light-Duty Vehicles

In early April, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced new proposed standards to further reduce emissions from light- and medium-duty vehicles beginning with model year 2027.“EEI and our member companies commend EPA for proposing new rules to help reduce emissions from passenger and other light-duty vehicles,” said EEI President Tom Kuhn. “Electrifying the transportation sector will be key to reducing emissions across the economy and to achieving our goals for a carbon-free future. We are committed to working with EPA Administrator Regan and the Biden administration to help build the electric vehicle charging infrastructure needed to accelerate the electric transportation transition and reduce vehicle emissions.”
