On August 11, EEI and our member companies observed 8-1-1 Awareness Day (or Safe Digging Day) by reminding customers to dial 811 before beginning landscaping or other projects that require digging. When customers dial 811, they are connected to state “one call” centers that dispatch professional locators to mark the locations of underground power lines, wires, and pipes.
