EEI Announces Inaugural Africa Utility Power Sector Exchange Participant GRIDCo of Ghana
WASHINGTON, DC (June 19, 2018) – The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to participate in EEI’s Africa Utility Power Sector Exchange (AUPSE) initiative.

EEI and G
RIDCo have agreed to pursue joint areas of collaboration as part of AUPSE to advance GRIDCo’s operations and strategic goals, which include participation in senior executive knowledge exchange dialogues with U.S. and international CEOs.

“We are thrilled to start working with GRIDCo as part of AUPSE,” said EEI Vice President for International Programs Lawrence Jones. “GRIDCo is a leading transmission system operator in Africa’s power sector, and we look forward to building joint activities to support the company’s path toward operational excellence.”

“Joining AUPSE is a great opportunity for GRIDCo to be part of an international network of peers and to share insights and best practices on our key operational priorities,” said GRIDCo CEO Jonathan Amoako-Baah. “We are confident our participation in AUPSE will be extremely beneficial to enhance our strategic planning this year and in the years to come.”

GRIDCo is a public limited liability company that is wholly owned by the government of Ghana. It is the system operator and the sole electric transmission company in Ghana.

AUPSE, an initiative of EEI International Programs, advances operational performance across the African electric power sector through CEO and senior executive knowledge exchange and peer-to-peer networking. AUPSE was launched by EEI in partnership with the Edison Foundation and the U.S. Department of State in 2017.
