EEI Statement on the Passing of Jim Rogers

WASHINGTON (December 18, 2018) - Edison Electric Institute (EEI) President Tom Kuhn today issued the following statement in remembrance of Jim Rogers, former Duke Energy chairman, president and CEO, and EEI Chairman from 2006 to 2007.

"Jim Rogers was a visionary leader for the electric power industry, who always focused on finding cutting-edge and creative solutions to the energy challenges we face as a society. I always admired Jim for his passion and enthusiasm for our industry and its future, and am grateful for his service as past chairman of EEI.
“In 2008, through EEI, Jim Rogers initiated the Institute for Electric Efficiency to promote the sharing of information, ideas, and experiences among electric companies, regulators, policymakers, and other stakeholders. The organization later changed its name to the Institute for Electric Innovation when it expanded its mission to focus on new technologies transforming the electric power sector.

“EEI’s Board of Directors presented Jim with the EEI Distinguished Leadership Award in 2013 for his 25 years of service and exemplary contributions to the industry. Going forward, we will continue Jim’s mission to bring together policymakers and industry stakeholders to develop solutions that will deliver the clean energy future our customers want and expect.

“On behalf of the Edison Electric Institute and our member electric companies, I extend my deepest condolences to Jim's family and to his former Duke Energy colleagues.”
