EEI Applauds Senate Passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act

WASHINGTON (December 2, 2017) – Edison Electric Institute (EEI) President Tom Kuhn issued the following statement today on Senate passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

“EEI thanks Chairman Hatch and Senate Majority Leader McConnell for their leadership in advancing this important legislation, which includes a number of provisions that will benefit electricity customers.

"EEI's member companies strongly support pro-growth tax reform that boosts the economy and increases U.S. competitiveness, creates jobs, encourages private investment in critical energy infrastructure, and keeps energy bills as affordable and predictable as possible for customers. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act achieves these goals.

"Getting comprehensive tax reform across the finish line is the single most important action we can take this year to grow our economy and create jobs. With today’s vote, we are one step closer to passing comprehensive tax reform, and we hope the Senate and the House will move quickly to conference and pass a final bill that can be sent to the President to be signed into law.”
